Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Who are you?
James is a classically trained pastry chef and Nina is a 25-year vet of small business ownership. We met and married in Colorado and fell in love with Oregon’s North Coast through our travels. During the height of the pandemic we relocated to Warrenton.
Q. Why did you decide to make donuts?
Clatsop County has so many great bakeries but we asked “where are the donuts?” …and the idea for JamBot Donuts was born!
Q. How do I buy your donuts?
You can pre-order donuts online at JamBotDonuts.com for curbside pickup outside the Astoria Food Hub (1152 Marine Drive) from 6AM to 10AM six days a week. We’re closed on Wednesday. Our permanent retail location is TBD. Until then, follow us closely on Facebook and Instagram @JamBotDonuts for special pop-up locations across Astoria.
Q. Can I order donuts online?
Yes. You can pre-order donuts online at JamBotDonuts.com for curbside pickup outside the Astoria Food Hub (1152 Marine Drive) from 6AM to 10AM six days a week. We’re closed on Wednesday.
Q. Can I order donuts by phone?
No. Please order online. We’re too busy making donuts to answer the phone.
Q. How does curbside pickup work?
When you order online at JamBotDonuts.com you can specify the date and time you want to pick them up. If you choose to provide your email or phone number, the system will automatically keep you updated on the status of your order by email or text. During the online ordering process you’ll be prompted to enter the make and color of your vehicle. When your donuts are ready, simply park in front of the Astoria Food Hub on Marine Drive and turn on your hazards. We’ll bring your order to you from the East Door (under the “A” sign).
Q. Why don’t you pick up your phone?
We’re up at 1AM making donuts and can’t stop to answer the phone. The best way to reach us is by email at Info@JamBotDonuts.com or through Facebook Messenger @JamBotDonuts. We hate voicemail and only check it occassionally. If you need to talk to us, shoot us an email and we’ll call you back after 3PM.
Q. Why are you sold out?
Donuts are meant to be eaten fresh, so we only make what we can sell each day. The way to guarantee you get donuts is to order them online for curb-side pickup.
Q. Do you sell day-old donuts?
Q. Do you have gluten-free donuts?
We only have one donut fryer and can’t provide a truly gluten-free product since the oil is contaminated with flour when we fry traditional donuts. That said, we’ll offer donuts with gluten-free ingredients every time we have uncontaminated oil. If you want this product, let us know by email at Info@JamBotDonuts.com. We’ll prioritize them to match the community’s interest.
Q. Do you have vegan donuts?
We only have one donut fryer and can’t provide a truly vegan product since the oil is contaminated with butter and eggs when we fry traditional donuts. That said, we’ll offer vegan donuts every time we have uncontaminated oil. If you want this product, let us know by email at Info@JamBotDonuts.com. We’ll prioritize them to match the community’s interest.
Q. What’s in your donuts? Can I get an ingredients list?
Our donuts are scratch-made and hand-dipped every morning. Generally they contain flour, water, butter, eggs, salt, sugar, and yeast. If you have a specific allergy or sensitivity, just email us at Info@JamBotDonuts.com and we’ll let you know.
Q. Do you use locally sourced ingredients?
Yes. Our flour is regionally sourced in Washington State and we work with local food producers to source seasonal ingredients for our premium donut specials.
Q. My favorite donut is __________, will you make that?
Let us know and we’ll work it in as a weekly special if we can’t add it in as a regular menu item.
Q. Will you have more varieties?
Right now JamBot Donuts is a two-person operation. We’ll add varieties as we refine our daily production schedule and have a good understanding of what the community wants.
Q. Why are you at the Astoria Food Hub and what happened to the location across from City Hall?
We started our permanent buildout in the location across from City Hall in March 2022 but ran into some challenges with available power to the building. We chose to pivot to a temporary location so we could start making donuts as fast as possible. We’re truly grateful for the use of the North Coast Food Web’s education kitchen, located at the Astoria Food Hub, and have grown pretty fond of working next to our friends at Buoy Beer.
Q. Why don’t you accept tips?
Buying donuts should be a fast and predictable experience. If you love our donuts, tell your friends and buy more donuts!
Q. Are you hiring?
No. We won’t add more staff until we refine our production schedule, bakery capacity, and know we can pay a living wage.
